Hey girls,
We have an awesome opportunity as women who enjoy cycling to help other women learn about the sport. The National Girls and Women In Sports Day is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, from 9 am to 4 pm, at UNCA and closes the day by watching the UNCA girls basketball team play at 4:30 (I think that is the right time). Fun!!
We will conduct one (1) two-hour clinic, the time is yet to be determined, and as soon as I know, I will let you know. If the weather is bad, the entire day might be rescheduled to March 26, at the Director, Allison Dain's discretion. Or we may choose to turn our clinic into a light mechanic workshop for any girls/women who might be interested in learning to change a flat tire, properly adjust helmets, or any other topic you might want to suggest.
I envision the two-hour clinic to be similar to one of our ?Ladies First-timer Mountain Bike Rides? and Asheville Parks and Rec. has 15 mountain bikes for us to use. We may want to request some more bikes from Ski Country, Liberty, ProBikes and other sources if the sign up for the clinic exceeds 15. I hope it will! The clinic will be conducted on the UNCA campus, but not on roads. We are hoping to get some trail access or may use the athletic fields.
This email is going to many women cyclists in our area. Please feel free to pass it along to others you think might enjoy volunteering or participating in the "Day." As President of the Asheville Women's Cycling Club and Team Prestige Subaru I want to welcome you to join us this day.
This will be the first year in 10 years of holding the National Girls and Women In Sports Day that cycling will be offered. I would like to make a lasting impact. Would you like to help me?
Please reply to this email or give me a call if you would like to volunteer. When the sign up for clinics begin, I will know better how many volunteers we will need, but a list in advance will be helpful.
Thanks,
Peace, love & happiness!
